Chai Scones (vegan)

Have you ever had a bad scone? Because bad scones are probably the most disappointing thing on the planet. Scones are either really good or really bad, there is no middle. When they’re not super moist (ew, worst word ever), they’re super dry.

Luckily, I chose a winner here.

This recipe is the first I have made from Never Homemaker and I was very pleased! Scones are difficult to get right, and I did not expect healthy scones to be so good!

Processed with Snapseed.

Substitutions/ Products Used:

Sprouted whole wheat flour

Replaced spelt flour with oat bran (only because I don’t have spelt)

Reduced the salt to 1/2 tsp

Reduced brown sugar to 2 Tbsp, and used coconut sugar instead

Used 3/4 cup cinnamon chips

Processed with Snapseed.

These scones are the PERFECT texture! No one could tell they were healthy, which is always what I aim for. The chai flavor was really light, so I think I would add another tea bag and some cinnamon next time. Also, I would use the full amount of sugar because they weren’t very sweet. It didn’t bother me though, and I thought they were really fine with the cinnamon chips.

Overall, I’m very happy with this recipe and can’t wait to play around with it!

Processed with Snapseed.
Served with Greek yogurt, apple butter, pumpkin spice pecans, and pumpkin spice granola
